Promoting creative and innovative thinking is essential in modern times. Through our competition we would like to draw the attention of companies from different industries to talented students. We would like to offer the participants the opportunity to publish themselves and their work worldwide in the form of publications at the biggest companies. We want to give young talents the opportunity to present their work worldwide, build a network and create new opportunities in the business world.
COMPETITION GUIDELINE
Please read through this guideline carefully.
01 THEME - NEW MATERIAL
We invite you to be part of this exciting opportunity to innovate for the next generation of materials for the future automotive + transportation industry. The automotive + transportation industry is ever changing, but now at a faster rate than ever imagined in its history.
Electric car sharing, commercial spacecraft, and interactive/ smart vehicles are just a few examples of the areas where young design talents are needed. We are looking for innovative new material concepts that could radically change what our cars, trains, airplanes or even spaceships look and feel like in the future and beyond.
This competition will focus on the three most significant design directions for the future:
Sustainability, Biomimicryand Smart Material Design.
Therefore, your new and innovative material could be about:
1. How to produce the new material itself, or
2. Your vision of a new application for your material.
If you think that your material concept is a bit far out or looks too much like science fiction, rest assured that we are very interested to hear about it.
02 HOST - KHALIL Design
Khalil Design is one of the most well-known advanced design studios in Germany in terms of creating future automotive + transportation concepts. Some of Khalil’s designs will not even be on the market within the next 5 -10 years.
This is the first international design competition by Khalil Design of this kind. We would like to provide students with the grand opportunity of presenting their work to some of the most famous big brands in the industry. We will showcase the concepts from the participating students and young professionals at a special exposition of our own on-going projects.
03 PARTICIPANTS
Students and young professionals.
Young professionals are creative people with up to 7 years of work experience after graduation.
We welcome all student and young professional entries from all levels of study as well as education disciplines:

We also welcome student or young professional groups “as a team” within an unlimited number of participants.
04 PARTICIPATION CONDITIONS
Please read trough these instructions carefully before submitting:
SUBMISSIONS + REQUIREMENTS:
1. MATERIAL
You can submit any type of new and outstanding material, preferable out of your own production. It must not be perfect in terms of technical requirement’s but showcase a new material approach and thinking.
We will also offer you the opportunity to submit any already existing piece(s) of new material(s) that you have produced within the last one or maximum two years. Please send us a minimum of one sample of your new material.
2. MOODBOARD
Send in one Moodborard showing your idea

3. MATERIAL DETAILS ABSTRACT
Send in one page of explanation of your material and your idea.

06 PROJECT SUBMISSION DEADLINE
You can submit your material innovations until Sunday, 28th February 2021.
Late Submissions will not be allowed to enter the competition.
Only full submissions which enclose a material / moodboard and abstract will be considered as completed into the competition.
07 GUARANTEES PROVIDED BY THE PARTICIPANT
The competition participant certifies and guarantees to KHALIL Design the following:
That the project is original produced by the student or young professional or group mentioned.
That he/she / is the sole and exclusive project author (where the project has been produced by more than one person or by a company, they certify and guarantee that they are the sole and exclusive authors) and that it does not infringe, either directly or indirectly, the rights of third parties.
That on its date of submission to this competition, he/she is the sole and legitimate owner of the industrial and intellectual property rights for the project (in the event that the project has been produced by more than one person or by a company, they certify and guarantee that they are the sole and exclusive owners).
In the event that the participant is a natural person, that the project has not been created within the context of employment or the service of others.
Contestants must handle insurance during shipping by themself. In case of damage and if the project item is destroyed or broken during shipment or presentation Khalil Design will not be liable for it.
Khalil Design has the right to keep the submitted works for publications.
08 JURY
The jury will include professionals from different fields of the automotive + transportation industry, as well as other areas, including high end suppliers and brands. The final jury will be communicated by the end of the submission period.
09 PRIZES
1st price:
The winner will receive 4 of our trend and material boxes with a value of 3.980,00 Euros. The boxes will be send out quarterly in 2021. In the box you will find the latest material innovations in the form of a trend booklet and 7 innovative materials per box.
Price ,,most innovative university“:
The university with the most innovative submissions will receive 4 material boxes, which can be set up in-house in the form of a library.

11 PROJECT DISSEMINATION
The competitors grant KHALIL Design authority to publish, communicate, present or disseminate verbally, in wiring or graphically or in photograph, the projects presented to competition, whilst always mentioning the project author.
12 PERSONAL DATA
KHALIL Design will process your personal data for the purpose of running this competition.
13 APPLICABLE LAW
This competition is subjected to German law.
14 ACCEPTANCE OF THE RULES
Participation in this competition supposes full acceptance of these rules.
15 COMMUNICATION
The official source of communication is the web page www.khalildesign.com/design-competition and all information, modifications and progress regarding the competition shall be published on our website or will be communicated directly to the participants via e-mail.
